We have a vacancy for an Internship in the Culture and Education Department of the Canning House. You will provide support to senior staff and contribute to the efficient operation of the Department general office. This is a full time unpaid position for at least six months. In return, you will receive professional support, training, and the opportunity to gain valuable experience in Cultural Management as part of a friendly, professional team.

Ideal candidate will have an interest in non-profit accounting and in the Canning House regional focus; have good word processing skills, experience with databases and spreadsheets, well organised, and proactive.

The intern will be introduced to the diverse aspects of cultural management and public relations work and to the organization and execution of events at the Canning House.

Job Requirements

  • Assist with all aspects of bookkeeping for a non-profit organization. Responsibilities may include accounts payable, accounts receivable, file and organization.
  • Providing assistance in the collation, editing, proofing and dissemination of the Department publications and writing texts.
  • Answering written and telephone inquiries
  • Support for the media work of the communication department
  • Assisting in the office
  • Assisting in organizing and holding events (including evening events)
  • Assisting in setting up and taking down exhibitions
  • Correspondence in English, (Spanish and Portuguese a plus)
