Canning House is pleased to announced "The Belize Hall", a new space for exhibitions of paintings by established and up-and-coming artists from Latin America, Spain and Portugal.
The first exhibition is dedicated to the work of the late painter Fernando Montes (1930-2007); one of Bolivia's most distinguished artists.
Fernando Montes was born in La Paz, Bolivia in 1930. His work is inspired by the relationship between mankind and the Earth, as seen in the High Andes; it is a meditation on the place of the human being before the immensity of nature, infinite time and space. Montes exhibited widely in Europe, the Americas and the Far East. Group shows included the 48th Venice Biennale, the Museum of Modern Art and UNESCO in Paris, LINEART in Ghent, KIAF in Seoul and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. From 1960 until his death in 2007, he lived and worked in London.
For more information about the artist and his work, please visit his website: www.fernandomontes.co.uk
Paintings can be viewed between 10am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
