10-Week Courses in Brazilian Portuguese

COURSE DATES

LEVELS

Beginners

For those new to the language with no experience, this course will give you the basics - how to introduce yourself, numbers, the alphabet, pronunciation, directions, ordering, shopping, verbs in the present and the simple past.

Elementary

Aimed at those with a Beginners course under their belt. Students will learn useful vocabulary for travelling, comparisons, descriptions, how to give and receive information, the imperative, the gerund, working with past and present tenses.

Lower Intermediate

This course will cover descriptions, facts and situations, comparatives and superlatives, opinions, perfect, imperfect, preterite, future of present and future of preterite tenses. Students will explore Brazilian people, culture and lifestyle.

Upper Intermediate

This course will focus on current topics relevant in Brazil and the world today such as the job market, media and the arts. The course will also cover the subjunctive, future of preterite and conditional clauses.

Advanced Conversation

This course will introduce more sophisticated structures/vocabulary. Student will engage in debates and discussions on complex topics such as Brazilian economic issues, politics, history and cultural movements, whilst revising and consolidating advanced grammar and vocabulary.

Our courses are very much conversation based and are ideal for those wishing to learn how to communicate in Portuguese as it is spoken in Brazil.

Duration of course: 10 weeks

Fees: £130 for members of Canning House and £170 for non-members

Refunds will only be given if a course is cancelled; payments cannot be transferred to future courses if a student drops out.
