On the occasion of the visit to the United Kingdom of H.E Antonio Brack, Peru's first Minister for the Environment, The Peruvian Embassy to the United Kingdom and Canning House are pleased to invite you to the presentation by H.E. Antonio Brack entitled "Environmental Challenges in Peru: Development and Opportunities"

Sustainable development, climate change and energy are among the most evident challenges that the global community must tackle in the 21st Century. Peru is a central protagonist in the collective efforts to overcome these issues. According to the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research (www.tyndall.ac.uk), Peru is the third most vulnerable country to climate change. Its rapid economic expansion and the development of significant investment projects are directly linked to the sustainable exploitation of its vast natural and energy resources. Its condition as one of the world's mega-diverse biospheres entails for Peru a major responsibility to protect this fragile environment.

During this mission it was agreed that Florida and Brazil would work together to create a commission for regional ethanol cooperation. It was decided that Roberto Rodrigues would represent the commission for Brazil, serving as Governor Bush's counterpart.
