by: Mr. Ross Hall, Director of International

Chaired by Professor Tim Connell, Languages for the Professions, City University

EDEXCEL, a Pearson company, is the UK's largest awarding body offering academic and vocational qualifications and testing to schools, governments, colleges, employers and other places of learning across the UK and 85 countries internationally.

Formed in 1996 by a merger of the Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) and the University of London Examinations and Assessment Council, Edexcel has more than 100 years' experience, awarding over 500,000 vocational qualifications and processing over nine million examination scripts each year.

Ross Hall joined Edexcel in December 2006, from a background in corporate venturing. He has been responsible for establishing and growing more than 20 businesses around the world, in a wide range of market sectors including education, human resources, healthcare, logistics and media. Ross also has a track record in advising organisations on innovation for growth.

As Director of International, his focus is on cementing Edexcel as the worl's leading qualifications accreditation body so as to give learners the best employment opportunities; to enable academic institutions to deliver world-class service and to benefit employers by improving recruitment, retention and development in an increasingly global economy.
